Chocolate chip! Chocolate chip is the answer I hear every time I ask my house what kind of cookies they want me to bake for them. Although my husband would rather have oatmeal raisin, snicker doodles or an iced sugar cookie basically anything but chocolate chip. But we are out numbered in opinion so by default I end up making chocolate chip cookies. Truth be told, I’m part of the chocolate chip loving portion of our family so I wouldn’t exactly say that I manipulate the result BUT I am the one making the cookies.
First, let me start by saying that I don’t have and never had an aversion to foods based on color alone. I haven’t met a food that I don’t like period. It’s similar to the way that I view movies. Even if the movie is not entertaining and basically no good I still sit through the entirety for the experience. So, yes I have been known to eat some pretty random foods that I will likely not eat again but I did at least try them.
Yes, I am the mom that fed my babies and had to have a bit of whatever they were having…just to taste it. I was also that 3 foot tall toddler that stood by my grandpa’s chair at the dinner table basically begging for a bite of what he was having. LOL!
Last week I spent a day at Avalon, an outdoor entertainment, dining and shopping experience that is so well planted right off the freeway that it doesn’t feel like you are a shopping center in the city. It’s like a sweet neighborhood with beautifully manicured lawns, landscaping and curved sidewalks with smiling faces and neighborly conversation it as a place we visit frequently.
Although every day for me is meatless “Monday” I like to challenge my friends and family who eat meat every day to one meatless or meat free day of the week. It just so happens that Meatless Monday has a nice, catchy ring to it. An example of what our most recent dinners are looking like and so quick and easy to pull together.
Hi, friends! It’s almost winter and Christmas time, cold and snowy. No, really I’m just kidding its actually quite balmy and nice outside so being inside the house making holiday crafts, watch movies, baking cookies and all things that I grew up doing just isn’t happening this year. Don’t get me wrong I would rather sit outside on the porch and read a book or go on a bike ride with the children but its Christmas time all over again. I guess it’s just watching my children have a vastly different wintertime experience than how I experienced winter as a child is … well, bittersweet.
