First, let me start by saying that I don’t have and never had an aversion to foods based on color alone. I haven’t met a food that I don’t like period. It’s similar to the way that I view movies. Even if the movie is not entertaining and basically no good I still sit through the entirety for the experience. So, yes I have been known to eat some pretty random foods that I will likely not eat again but I did at least try them. I think that is why I am very comfortable being strictly plant based today. I have been there, done that, and have been told by my entire family that I have never been a picky eater and would eat anything. There it is! I have tried most everything and finally in my 30’s I have decided what it is that I really like. Plants!!

I totally get it and understand that adults and children have their likes and dislikes. They choose foods based on aesthetics like colors but I have to tell you that this Healthy Green Smoothie tastes like tropical heaven. The banana, mango and strawberry blend so well together that the spinach is like a backdrop just something to provide depth and extra nutrients. I drink these smoothies all the time and my children love them to. The green color is bright and cheery and with the following health properties we can all afford to drink more of these.

Spinach – loaded with flavonoids which are powerful antioxidants and a great form of bio available calcium

Banana – rich in potassium which is beneficial to cardiovascular health

Mango – high in Vitamin C and aids in digestion

Strawberries – aid in neutralizing free radicals in your body and lower acidity

Chia seeds – calcium, a serving has 18% of recommended daily intake for calcium and fiber

Healthy Green Smoothie

  • 1 cup fresh spinach
  • 1 chopped, frozen banana
  • 2 fresh mango cheeks or 1 cup frozen
  • 4 strawberries
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds
  • 1/4 cup coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup ice cold water


  1. Blend for 30-45 seconds on high
